Parliamentarians cut tree ,fall with it

By Andrew Kiwanuka

Members of parliament in the previous guild government lost out after putting up a strong resistance to all efforts initiated by then guild president, Lufunya Derrick.

The immaturity level of politics displayed affected the ordinary students whose stakes were high from the onset.

Parliamentarians especially those whose hopes of becoming ministers but were unable to secure any appointment resorted to fighting Lufunya instead of working together for development.

Most times, the prime minister, Anita Muhairwe attempted to use these disgruntled members of the house whose motives were clear from the start that what ever the president wanted to do, MPs were not willing to co-operate. Mps like James Kyomya,Afifa Walubanda and a huge group which thought that by putting pressure on Lufunya and failing all his initiatives would earn them something. They have ended up not only losing out the little allowances but also their acquisition of certificates of recognition hangs in balance.

Unfortunately, poor Lufunya failed to read the intentions of these members neither did he ever try to meet them separately despite the fact that he knew them. Their continued wars coupled with other questions of the day, not forgetting personal weaknesses of the head meant that the government was long dead.

The question remains, did these parliamentarians who worked hard for the collapse of Lufunya get any thing in the end?, your guess is as good as mine.
