OKEBE IN TROUBLE…

By James Mubi

Every student reporting back from home finds a big surprise at campus that is the increment of tuition. However, as many students were watching and reading, this drastic change at different media pertaining Makerere, Gulu, Kyambogo little did they know what was happening at their own campus.

The difference is that, other universities only increased tuition on Freshers unlike Nkumba where continuing students are subjected to 5% and Freshers 15%. As a reminder, last semester’s circular said fees has not changed on continuing students.

But what does this mean to an average parent who makes a lot of sacrifices like selling ‘katoogo’ to add value to his son’s or daughter’s life. Some state ministers are intending to tender their resignation letters to the Speaker if Okebe does not explain himself a bout this matter close sources to parliament intimated to Nkumba Times.

It’s alleged that Okebe as the Guid President who represents student’s interests appended his signature on this matter without the consent of the executive. This comes at a time when students are still miserably complaining a bout the 100.000 retake fee.

Nkumba Time reached Mr. Okebe in his office on Monday to answer allegations leveled against him. “I did not sign the document but attended the meeting.” Said Okebe. He further explained on the issue of retake that Nkumba students should be very happy for that a mount because according to the report shown to Nkumba Times from the trip made to various Universities, things are very worse. So Mr. Okebe encourages students to bear with the 100.000 retake fee.
