Okebe receives a hero’s welcome.

By James Mubi

The Guild President Okebe Nathan 25 years old yesterday jetted in from Ghana. He had gone to attend all Africa Students Union Summit that commenced on 17-21 September under the theme “celebrating Africa Promoting unity,” which is held after every four years.

The last summit was held in Khartoum the capital city of Sudan, Ghana hosted this year’s summit. The Vice President of Ghana Prof. Draman was the chief guest. Delegate from South Africa, Nigeria, Rwanda, among others attended the summit. Mr. Okebe headed
Uganda that included Guild President from Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Kyambogo University, Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), Kampala International University (KIU).
Unity for Africa was one of the items high on the agenda. The summit came at a time when Ghana was celebrating the hundred year’s birth date of the late Nkwameh Nkrumah. Mr. Okebe stood out from the rest when he strongly objected the secretary general Ogulana Sunday Oludare’s prolonged stay in office, this was his ninth year in office moreover the constitution stipulates four years this puts an ironic twist to the story because Okebe being an NRM cadre, has never on a single day objected President Museveni’s prolonged stay in Power but went to Ghana to preach change. Political analysis say Okebe is more of a Gahanna than a Ugandan.
Okebe stayed in Teacher’s fan hostel (FT) in Accra and currently he’s the acting coordinator for East Africa and public relation’s officer for all Africa students union. Inside sources from Ghana told Nkumba Times that he’s vying for Presidency slated for April next year in South Africa. Yesterday a team from the Guild headed by the Vice President Bangi Ann, with Nkumba Times’ journalists went to give a hero’s welcome to the President, cameras were all over him and the whole attention at the airport went to him.
