Zambogo Handover scheduled on 4th October

By Richard ojambo and vicent mukisa

The members of Nkobazambogo Association fulfilled what was agreed in their meeting that took place on 17th /09/09 and went ahead with all determination to go and attend the kabaka’s visit to Wakiso.
His visit (kabaka) to Wakiso came few days after he was restricted by the police to go to Bugerere County.
The meeting was held in Kintu hall at 5pm and it was attended by the out going chairman and his committee, the new elected committee and members of the association. It was chaired by the speaker of the association Mr. Henry Kasule.
The Zambogo convoy left the University at 1:pm using the university Bus at a fee of 1000 as transport per head.
Meanwhile, it was agreed by the members that the handover and welcoming of the new members to the association will be on 4th/10/09. Among the elected committee members include: chairman Ali Kafuma Ssenyonga, vice Grace Nalubega, speaker Henry Kasule his deputy David Mukwaya, finance Lameka Mutebi, Secretary Getrude Babirye, sports Hamidah Nalubega, store keeper Peter Kamoga “senga” Daissy Nakanwaji, and the time keeper Silas Kato.
However, it’s alleged that on that same day (4th /10/2009), the Basoga Nseete will be welcoming new members and it’s the hand over day.
Both functions will be held at the University field gardens starting at 10 am.
Unfortunately, it is alleged that according to the Zambogo association office of Finance, there is zero balance in the association accounts, therefore one may wonder how the association will manage its future activities and that big function ahead.
But however, members and well wishers of the association shouldn’t loose hope, because we all know credit crunch has hit the whole world, the University Guild led by Mr. Okebe Nathan who has just returned from his tour to Accra-Ghana to participate in the all Africa students summit representing the University, will offer an assistance of over 150,000 Uganda money to the association through the cultural minister.. More so arrangements were made to get some funding such as fundraising, personal donations and NGOs.
